  • Overview

    Maine Drilling & Blasting is seeking an action-oriented individual who has an interest and desire to meet order fill rates in a safe and efficient manner. Responsible for yard workers in a  high-volume explosives distribution center. Responsible for coordinating truck loads and unloads, and moving materials within or near plant, yard, or work sites, including security checks and performing any combination of the following: reads pick ticket orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or products to be loaded, unloaded or moved.

    Responsibilities

    • Promote work safety practices and lead by example.
    • Responsible for maintaining productivity, coaching, training, motivating, and ensuring safety standards are met on a daily basis.
    • Responsible for working with our EOPs to ensure picking and staging procedures are followed to maintain inventory accuracy.
    • Responsible for ensuring product is handled in an efficient and damage free manner to obtain operational goals associated with these areas.
    • Responsible for ensuring yard equipment is properly maintained and manage all aspects of service on equipment.
    • Responsible for ensuring adherence to all quality, safety, security, housekeeping,  and customer service practices and guidelines are met.
    • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and or shelves by hand or by forklift.
    • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage while in transit.
    • Responsible for performing accurate order fulfillment counts. Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
    • Lifts heavy objects by hand or using power hoist.
    • Cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds.
    • May occasionally operate industrial trucks to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
    • Responsible for working schedule that allows business demands to be met, including overtime, as needed. 
    • Attend monthly meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school degree or equivalent.
    • CDL B required.
    • Good oral communications and math skills.
    • Self-starter, sets high personal work standards; and is willing and able to cross-train on unrelated tasks.
    • Must be flexible and able to make decisions that our in the company’s best interest.
    • Fork lift certification is required.

    Physical Requirements

     

    • Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
    • Ability to lift 50 - 80 lbs.
    • Outside environment, all weather conditions.
    • Work on uneven and loose surfaces.
    • Stooping and bending 60 – 70% of the time.
